Great Night on Thursday

Yesterday the Yalies and others had a wonderful dinner with Dr. Minh Luong. The dinner was at Cafe Rouge in Berkeley. Meeting Dr. Luong was a great opportunity and I learned many things about the summer program and Yale from him. Dr. Luong also gave some advice to me, such as knowing my cheese and other insights, that will prove invaluable during the summer and college. Also during the dinner was Dr. Luong talking about the college process and how it all works. His speech gave me much more knowledge in what to expect and what to know when deciding and attending college. I am looking forward to this summer at Yale.

  1. Henry,

It appears that you are up to the upcoming challenge this summer at Yale University. You, more than any other Yalie, pegged this program. You wanted the opportunity and now you have the chance to shine on the big stage.

You will have a lot of big shoes to fill. Last year, Yohanna Pepa, Matt Arciniega, Jessica Ong and Stephanie Ny raised the bar for the ILC. This was one of our strongest groups and it showed with their admissions. Yohanna to Yale, Matt to Columbia, Jessica to Cal and Stephanie to Northwestern. Man, that is one solid group.

You more than anyone knows what it will take to thrive in this environment. Peter, your brother, is currently at Harvard, and I am sure that he has highlighted the rigors that occur in an Ivy League setting.

I wish you well and look forward to being with you during this summer. I, along with Ms. Kronenberg, will escort you first to Philadelphia, then to Manhatten and then finally to New Haven. Along the way we will visit The University of Pennsylvania and Columbia.

Dr. Minh Luong will bring out the best in your talents and drive you to heights previously unseen by any of our current students. So relish the opportunity and get ready for the next steps. I look forward to seeing you at Orientation on June 1st.

    Take care.

  2. Henry,

Tonight's dinner was just a sampling of what you can expect when you get to New Haven. The food won't be as nice, you won't have a good looking server at your beck and call but your mind will be taxed to the point of your head exploding. And you'll either love every minute of it or you'll be in therapy for years to come. I'm betting the former.
