Today I was wonderfully surprised to find an email telling me I had gotten in to the Yale Ivy Scholars Program. I am ecstatic to report that I will be joining the three other Ivy League Connection students to Yale this summer.
I am so grateful for all of the help and support I have gotten throughout this entire process. It has been chaotic and a little frightening at times but entirely worth it.
This is all just proof that perseverance pays off. I am so lucky that I will get to take part in this wonderful opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.

ReplyDeleteThere were never any doubts in our minds that you would be a part of this program. It was predestined for you and there was nothing you could have done to stop it from happening to you.
Now all you have to do is read like you've never read before, mentally prepare yourself, steel yourself for the rigors of the program and count the days until you board that plane.
Oh, and every chance you get I need you to smile and look good for the cameras. That should be pretty natural for you, though.

ReplyDeleteYou are proof positive that remaining upbeat and optimistic are good values to have in life. This experience has shown you that you "never give up" and that you always keep your eyes on the prize. When it looked like the ILC was out of your grasp it just jumped up and gave you the ultimate grand prize!
Yes, you are going to Yale University. The same campus that has developed some of the greatest minds in the world. People like Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and former iconic president Bill Clinton have all graced the Yale University campus. What a great chance that has been bestowed upon you.
As Mr. Gosney stated "It was your destiny", but now you have to really understand that your competitive spirit must come forward and you must be thoroughly prepared for the next steps. Everyone will be watching and the professors will know if you are ready for this journey. Don't blow it, embrace it!
Take the time to work with your new group of friends, Connor, Henry and Brandon. I would strongly encourage all of you to form a study group this summer and not let those books collect a lot of dust.
Once again, congratulations on being accepted to the Yale Ivy Scholars Program. What once started as "Are you kidding me" now has to turned into "Yes I can"

ReplyDeleteAdding a little to what Mr. Ramsey wrote, the bulk of your 3749 pages of reading has to do with the art of war. This isn't to prepare you to go fight in a physical war like we see so often. It's to prepare you for the corporate and political battles that are a fact of life these days.
If you really understand what you're reading, then you'll be fully prepared to do battle once you arrive in New Haven. The class you'll be taking is a no holds barred take no prisoners kind of war. In the same light as the line from the old Mel Gibson movie Thunderdome, this class is "seventy men enter--one man leaves" Will you be that one or will you be one of the 69 bodies littering the classroom when the battles is over?
